This is my Tele that I replaced the body on. It started out as a 1971 Telecaster. Now it has a MJT body. All hardware, the neck and electronics are original.

Why did I replace the body on this guitar? I'll let the pictures do the talking.

I will eventually have the original body "amputated", and maybe refinished. But for now, I'm really enjoying the guitar with the MJT body. It is super light, 6.8 lbs. It also sounds incredible and the neck feels great.

    Thanks for Looking

I need more pictures to do more talking...because I don't understand.
    What happened? Was it beer-related?

Might have been a "drunken great idea".

The story was that the original owner cut the horn off because it would be more comfortable to play...(you couldn't even sit with it on your knee...). It was probably done in the late 70's (before I was even born). It almost looks like he tried to make a Vox teardrop, but didn't quite finish.

I bought the guitar just like this. I contemplated just rocking it like this, but couldn't quite hack it.

    My first thought: VOX teardrop!

My second thought: Texas Tele chainsaw masacre.

My third thought: 20% less tone, sob sob

Isn't there a law against doing this?

Why not get a parts caster body or a blank body stock and experiment? A body, let alone a whole guitar, that old has a soul, you know? It's older than many posters here. Just wrong.

I guess he thought that he would keep it forever and wanted to make it his own?

As bad as it sounds, I'm almost glad that he did that. It means that I could afford it.:bonk

I would have just made it a 3 piece alder body.

The previous owner should be beaten for subjecting a Telecaster to such horror.
