1. The Gear Page is run by musicians for musicians. We listen, we learn and if we misstep we are not afraid to do the right thing. We proposed some changes to the Emporiums. Based on feedback from members, we have decided to not go ahead with those changes. However, it has also highlighted that we need some community input into what is working and what is not working for members here. Primarily focused on the Emporiums, we'd like input on your thoughts about TGP and how things work in the Emporiums for you and how you'd improve them. The discussion thread on the is here!

As for me, I love Alnico II's. I love that darker, beefier tone that the '52's had.

I'd like to know what the other Tele freaks on here prefer. I'm talking about single coils. Does anyone else agree with me? Give me your thoughts? Why do you prefer the pickups you do?

I like things on the bright side because it's easier to darken a sound with amps, pedals and things than it is to get a guitar to have some bite and clarity.

V's all day...The III's lack that high end sparkle IMO.

I'm a flip-flopper, I love all the AlNiCo magnets! (today a set of IIs grabbed me)

I like the Alnico magnets in my Nocasters. Can't remember if they are the IIs or IIIs. Get 'em confused with the Alnico magnets in the Gary Moore LP humbuckers.

What are some of the more popular Alnico V magnet pickups that Fender puts in its better quality Teles?

I am gathering that the Vs are brighter and cut through the mix better.

I must say the magnets in my Nocaster pickups sound great -- but they don't strike me as the kinda "bright" (nasty icepick bright) that some Teles give you.

depends on if the body is ash or alder...

In an ash body, I dunno if you want AVs.... that would be BRIGHT.

My favorite bridge pickup is the Duncan Jerry Donahue which is a slightly overwound AlNiCo II. I match it up with a regular Duncan AlNiCo II tele neck pickup or the stock pickup in my Muddy Waters Tele.

I just got this Muddy Waters back from a friend I sold it to a year ago. I just love the way this guitar sounds and the slightly chubby neck is perfect. I've learned to really like the CAR color. :)
