Not a big fan of ole Bobby Weir and/or the Dead (or Kingfish, for that matter), but he sounds great here, and Robby Hoddinot is tearing it up on an amazing sounding white-guard Tele. This whole concert is available on YT, btw. To me, this is how a Tele should sound!

    Great Tele Tone!

Robbie is/ was a great guitarist, really one of the best from the Bay Area. Kingfish was an excellent band - short lived, relatively speaking, but excellent. Dave Torbert was an amazing bass player and singer/ songwriter too.

Thanks for posting this, Dana O.

That's for the bridge pickup. Sounds like those tasty fills throughout the rest of the song are from the neck pup...often underappreciated and underused on a Tele.

So tasty! Always though Robbie's tone was SO good! Such a sad story what has happened to Robbie. He could have done big things.

Saw Kingfish a few times, Robbie's playing was always great, huge tele tone.
He sounded best at a Winterland show when the Dead were not playing together, that tone in Winterland....wow. He and Jerry swapping licks...cool! I think the first time I saw them was at a high school dance in Mt View, But I might not remember correctly, thing are a little fuzzy from that time period.
Closest I got to Robbie, he bummed a cig from me at a local drug house.... The 70's were a special time... lol.
