Never really heard of one before and there's one up for sale locally. Asking $1600 for a clean looking 2 12 combo.

I have one - great amp! Kind of a really well-built, more versatile Vox AC30. Nice reverb, too.

    Does 1600 sound fair?

I think so - it is a Dr Z 2x12 combo, after all. What speakers are in it?

I had one of those early ones, but mine was called a Studio. Amazing front end to that amp - really brings out the character of what you plug in. Kinda Voxy/Fendery to my ears. A really fun amp to play. That price for a 2 X 12 combo sounds about right to me.

The Invasion was the first version of this amp, design flaws in that the reverb hums. I had a studio deluxe (1x12) and invasion (2x12) both hummed horribly. The transformers are located improperly and cause this hum, it is a design flaw, different tubes only mask the flaw.

$1600 is too high, I'd pay no more than $1300. The amp weighs a ton, and it's not more versatile than a Vox AC30 because it only has one channel.

It does sound better with pedals than Vox stuff though, I've had hard times trying to get Vox amps and pedals.

If you get a Maz Senior you will get the same amp w/o the design flaws. Sorry, but I want to be objective.

Interesting! My 1995 Invasion 2 X 12 doesn't hum a bit. It did go back to the Doctor at some point, so perhaps he remedied it.

I had a Maz 38 Invasion. Mine didn't have any hum. The Invasion has more clean headroom than the later Maz Senior amps. It also has a pull mid-boost and a presence control instead of the cut.
It was an awesome sounding amp. I sold it because I have too many other amps that can cover that sonic territory, and because it was a beast to move around. At 84 pounds, it was heavier than my '66 Super Reverb.

    That statement is completely FALSE.
The hum of the reverb that was in very few of the early MAZ 38's was caused by a non isolated RCA return jack. Replacing that $1.00 part cures the reverb hum. Again only on some units and it did take a while to determine the cause of the Reverb ground hum. This was a larger issue when plugged into outlets that had excessive ground currant , at poorly wired homes and such. New MAZ Seniors use the same chassis and transformer placement.
