Tell me about the Fender Dual Showman...

I just got offered a 1979 Fender Dual Showman in a trade for my Hughes and Kettner 20th Anniversary Edition Tube.

I know nothing about Fender amps. Lately my sound has been shifting from a kidna more modern Van Halenish sound to more of the John Mayer/SRV clean strat tones.

So what're these amps like?

Howdy,

Loud and clean. 100 watts of 6L6 headroom. By the late '70s, a distortion switch was added, so you might be able to get those distorted tones more easily. 10 tubes with killer tremolo. Good luck!

Anybody else have experience with this later model? That spec sheet looks like it's for late 60's and early 70's amps.

So the cleans are twin like cleans, can anyone describe the dirty channel?

It doesn't have a dirty channel, you just turn it up louder.

I bet that '79 is an ultralinear model. They're loud and clean at 135 watts. Does it have the hum balance pot at the back?
