I currently have a 2005 Gibson Chet Atkins Tennessean, which I thoroughly enjoy, but I've had some gas for an ES-339. The Tennessean has the flatter fret board for more finger pickin and I am more of a 70's rock/ blues kind of guy.

    Should I sell/trade my Tennessean for a 339?

    Your opinions matter to me.

The correct answer is keep the Tennessean.....and buy the 339.

    Glad I could help.

That is not what my wife wants to hear. I am trying to be rational here and go with my style of playing and my checkbook (well that will change after May when she graduates with her Doctorate in Physical Therapy). My next guitar is going to be an American Strat of some kind and I just want to know if the 339 would suit me better.

I know the Tennessean is discontinued and will probably get more rare as time goes on.........maybe I'll keep it, who knows.

Tell her I said it was OK. :roll

Seriously...keep the Tennessean. You've got a LP Studio...the 339 may put you in the duplicity camp. I personally don't think the 339's sound anything like the 335's. The body size is about the same size as a LP.
    Good luck.

did you play a 339 yet? if not and you have no chance to in your area, buy one from a good dealer with return policy and a/b them, THEN decide....
    good luck
