I have Three Rca Blackplates 6l6's that I've picked up that I would like to sell. They were tested on a at1000 and all test pretty much NOS(two of the three were new in box). My question is is it safe to stick them in my 72 vibrolux without biasing just to test for microphonics before selling or do I risk hurting the tubes or my amp?

Thanks, Jason

What tubes are you running in your amp right now? Do you know the bias voltage at the control grids?

Sed 6l6's. I do not. I also forgot to ad that they are a matched triad.

Blackplates are a little funny to bias...more dodgey than other 6L6 tubes.

You could probably get away with it, but I didn't tell you that. I was not here.

Haha! Thanks for the input.

Chances are really slim that you're going to cause any problems. About 100 million people did this all the time for 40 years. Still do, I assume.
Anything can happen at any time but I sure wouldn't worry about checking a couple of RCA's for microphonics.

"Specially if you could include with it a pic of an amp exploding."

Jeez...come on, man.
