A year later a second tesla appears

and my old red tesla gets MTV airplay!

I just scored a Teuffel Tesla 7 string used and i have to say this is the most amazing axe i ever played! Especially the low E and B strings are a lot more powerful than usual and it has sustain until you take your finger off from the Fretboard. Everything sounds like there is built in compressor action or something going on due to the meet up of body and neck at the 8th fret! When you are a thumb player you will have a serious problem or you have to find a workaround but otherwise it plays and feels as comfortable or even better than a regular guitar! Neckpickup is a single coil and the Bridge one is a really hot PAF style humbucker and this thing is über br00tal! There are 3 Noise switches below the strings, ground hum, built in neck microfone for ugly feedback and a kind of plug out your cable kill switch! I make sure to make some videos later this day or tomorrow when I have a day off from work…

Sweet! I'm looking forward to it. That thing is wacky looking, I'm wondering how it feels standing up or even sitting down? Looks like it has a leg rest? Does it feel balanced on a strap?

I have to say that i feel more comfortable playing it strapped on and standing, when i play it while I am sitting down the body drags it a bit down in the rear! But it feels really nice and ergonomic and not as arkward as you might expect and its perfectly balanced when its strapped on...

That’s the price you have to pay for a nice low end and lots of sustain ;-)

And I thought my now gone Parker Fly was over the top...

Oh my GAWD...it's not a Strat or a Les Paul how are you going to deal???:rotflmao

Enjoy your new guitar and let us know what you think after she's been road tested. Looks like it's well made and functional. Hopefully there are good tones to be had as well.

Send it to me so I can review it. :D

Super cool guitar, man! Congrats. I've been wanting a Teuffel Birdfish for a while now. His stuff is just amazing.

I love those guitars...LOVE them. I had one on loan for a while but I will definitely get my own someday.

Good idea - having the extra string in case one breaks....

Congratulations! Teuffel guitars are a work of art. I am VERY envious.

That looks really cool. I think he should call them something else than a guitar though. He's doing himself an injustice. that's a whole new instrument.

    Yes, and yet -

When you play one, everything about the classic electric guitar paradigm and legacy that needs to be there is there. In spades.

That'd look really cool on the Jazz band orchestra stage, right between a Gibson L-5 and a D'Angelico New Yorker...

(ok, it might raise an eyebrow)

Better try one to make sure... I also use my left thumb to fret, especially in open tunings, but the first time I picked up a Tesla I was shocked how quickly I adapted to the design. In fact, it took me about five minutes to realize it was a 7-string...Ulrich is an absolute genius of ergonomic design.

I, too, will have one of these some day...especially if I can find a good used example.

Dennis is a such a lucky bastard...I looked for a used tesla for quite some time and found almost nothing...he only needed several days for getting one very cheap.
But it is in very good hands now...
