Petrucci was the guest musician and he played sections of his own songs from Suspended Animation.

As far as I know this is a first for TMS.
I hope future guests can do the same thing.

eddie trunks thinks the only metal is 80's glam

working hard to keep that thing going, meanwhile there are not many new metal/hr artists to feature and pop music is taking over like it never did before.

have some taylor swift eddie while you reminisce about whitesnake and coverdale that can't hold a note even tuned a step and a half down. lol

cant watch. Eddie Trunk and his need to be the center of attention just turns me off.

I probably should like that show but I just don't. The interviews and guest players can be cool but the way those three argue over their best of lists and rankings is just unbearable for me. It's like listening to high school boys argue about sports.

I, for one, happen to like it. It promotes Rock and Metal, has some pretty good musicians performing live, what's not to like?
Yeah, they bicker too much, but if you don't like the bickering, why are you here? T

I love hate it. Watched the other day and Satriani and Malmsteen were on it. Pretty funny, but Trunk and the other three do, in fact, wear it out a little. I like UFO a lot, but they are the damn gold standard on that show. They lean towards the metal that has aged the most. They don't really hype up Pantera, Celtic Frost, Sepultura, Tool, and some of the more artistic metal bands.

I'm sure most of that is dictated by the network.

Florentine is good. Trunk and the other guy (literally can't think of his name right now) are less good. Big fan of Miss Box of Junk.

They should ditch Trunk and the comedian without sideburns. Sideburns seems to have a good grasp on the history, but isn't afraid of newer stuff., and is the most likable by far. Trunk thinks he's a bigger star than the guests and the other guy highlight how out of touch the show is.

I do like watching the show b/c there just aren't many other platforms for decent musicians.

    No, not true.
The network has no involvement regarding the content.
    Ed has complete editorial control.
The content is dictated by his Rolodex and who is in the NYC/NJ area when they are taping.

From what I've seen, this show has very little to do with metal unless one is using an incredibly narrow definition.

Did you see the episode where they had the Wilson sisters on? The audience response was huge and the sisters had this look on their faces like, "Why are these guys so excited about Heart?" I like the show. I'm not much of an Eddie Trunk fan, but I like Jim and Don a lot.

I have a feeling this season will be the same old guests recycled through the shows.
I agree the talent that Trunk gets seems very narrow.
I am sure $ budget has a lot to do with it.

I used to watch it, but since suddenlink and Viacom had their little falling out we don't get it any more.

I have seen every episode, for better or worse.

I actually sent a suggestion to Eddie a year or so ago when they were asking for possible future guests, and I suggested Mark Farner. Come on, love 'em or hate 'em, Mark & Grand Funk Railroad were responsible for a lot of peeps wanting to play music.

So lo and behold if Mark isn't slated to be a guest this season-COOL!
