My wife and I were at the taping of That Metal show here in NYC last night. We were both selected to ask Eddie a trivia question. The show was running late so the questions were supplied by the TMS staff.

Eddie knew the answer to my question, but my wife stumped him.

The guests were Ace Frehley, Mark Farner and guitarist Nita Strauss (Iron Maidens, Alice Copper)

It was a very cool experience. Here are some pics:

That's awesome. How do you get selected to ask a question?

Mark Farner is certainly an interesting guest for That Metal Show. Grand Funk isn't really considered to be a, "Metal Band," so I guess they're considering them to be one of the bands that helped bridge rock to metal.

Seeing that photo of him above, I'd haver never guessed he's so short.

    Really?
    You're not revealing the questions?

    My question was:
Name the Kiss song that Lou Reed has a writing credit on and Ace sings lead vocals.

My wife questions that stumped him:
What is the name of the Black Sabbath album released immediately after Dehumanizer and who sings lead vocals for the band on this album?

    I have the answers...

Did Eddie have a tantrum when he got it wrong. Did he throw a fit and say she asked the question wrong? That's what he usually does.

I think he kept guessing and finally gave up.

The show airs 4/25 and that was the only question that stumped him so you can see for yourself.

One of the producers just came up as we were sitting there and asked who wants to ask Eddie a question? I didn't hesitate...I DO! I DO!

I bypassed Google and went straight to Allmusic lol.

It's a good question. I thought all the Tony Martin stuff ran its course in the '80s.

Grand Funk actually started a magazine in the 70's called, "Heavy Metal". I've never heard anything about it since though. It was a music mag, not the fantasy/horror magazine. I can find no record it ever existed on the interwebs. Anybody else remember it?

I remember reading somewhere that all of the "Stump the Trunk" questions are provided by the show and aren't solicited from the audience.

I'm looking forward to Schenker and Kirk Hammett on this Saturday's show!

When you get your email confirmation for attending the show they also send a Stump the Trunk questions sheet. You can write your questions and then they collect them before the show.

They shot two shows yesterday and were running late so they didn't have time to review the questions we submitted. TMS supplied the questions for the show I was at.
