That’s it. No more pedals for me with side mounted jacks.

So making some changes to my main pedalboard, I struggled to get the side mounted pedals to fit. All of the top mounted ones were easy, but the side ones...geesh, what a pain to get them to line up, particularly when the jacks were side by side.
There’s enough options out there, and no such thing to me as a must have. But from now on, must have is top mounted power and I/O jacks.
The new Carl Martin pedals I’ve seen( plexi really) are just the form factor I want. ‘Nuff said,

More side-jacked pedals for the rest of us!

I am learning the annoyances of both. For example, I have a pedal with side mounted jacks next to the buffer switch on my Tumnus Deluxe.

If it’s a pedal I need, I’ll make the room.

If it’s a pedal I only want, then I’ll find one that fits in the space I have for it.

Worst case: top jacks and top power combined. Ok if all 3 plugs are straight, otherwise, tough fit with some plugs.

I guess we all have different priorities, I’d much rather have a board full of pedal that don’t physically line up nicely, but have the sound and features I want than a nice neat perfectly lined up board full of pedals that were chosen primarily for their size and jack placement

It’s not that, it’s that pedalboard is a finite space. I can’t make it deeper or wider to fit them. Good ones aren’t cheap, that’s a trailer trash and is nicely made. I think I’m semi redundant anyway with the crunch box and the SLOsrortion, so I may drop one.

So buy a board that’s sized for your side jack pedals?

stagger the side-by-side pedals so the jacks are vertically stacked, and wrap the patch cable around the bottom of the bar or what-have-you of the 'board. Only uses 20mm in between, for me. I had some 8" cables around that I was glad to have.

I also prefer top-jacks, but mostly for the bottom row lol They have a place to dangle.

I prefer top jacks. But that is tertiary to the sound and function.

Never had this problem with either. You either make the room or get a bigger board. Two separate boards is also an easy solution.
