Just curious how this particular attenuator attenuates? My second question is whether you can mismatch the cab/hotplate impedance as long as the amp/hotplate impedance matches?

I have a 16ohm Hotplate and I want to play my Concorde through my 8ohm cab. If this can be done safely, do I set the Concorde impedance to match the Hotplate or the cab?

I read the Hotplate manual and it mentions that this could be done, but that it would "lessen the affect of the Hotplate's tone controls". This I don't care about. Just want to make sure that I am not damaging my amp in any way.

Answering q2: Whenever I've had this situation with my Hotplate, I've set the amp impedence to match the Hotplate. I can't say this is the 100% correct answer, but I've never had a problem doing it this way with my Marshalls.

Thats kind of what I thought. Doesn't seem like any harm would come to the amp as long as the Hotplate impedence is higher than the amp and cab, but I'm super anal about my gear.
