Gram Parsons biggest skill was surrounding himself with greatness. Find me someone who could sound bad with James Burton, Al Perkins, Emmylou, and Byron Berline behind them.

Interesting. The two I have from that series have soft touch switches with no almost no click.

Honestly can't say I've ever seen anything quite like this... there's a 2013 Gibson Memphis ES-330... 2013... sold for $50k

Fascinating to watch how the auctioneers drive and keep the energy going.

Maybe click isn’t the right word...I’m not as used to the soft touch switch compared to others, so maybe it just seemed noisier. Playing both of them right now it doesn’t seem too different between the two. Probably safer to just disregard my ramblings ;)

I'm old enough to have seen Gram and the Burritos and I was really into his solo albums at the time. But I never felt like he was the golden genius inventor of Country-Rock that he's been made out to be since then.

I don't have P-90s but I can try to record my two fuzzes with the 5E3 so you @waylon can hear how they sound.
I think you need something with a fuzzy character but without the fuzzy kind of compression and the Octafuzz with the Octave off may work.

I will sell my ‘74 Strat for a cool $500K ...starting now!

    Come and get it.

Sell house, buy trailer, go go go, you partners!

Plus I will throw in my ultra-rare Timmy v2 for another $50K!

C’mon folks, I’m just giving these away.

Feel the love (and hopefully not the burn),

    -bEn r.

I don't want to sound like I don't like him. I do. I really do. I just hate over-mythologizing artists the way some people are want to do.

I'd be demanding 10% off and a new pack of strings if it didn't come with a case.

Hot darn, that auction is crazy. I expected the strats to go for record numbers, but an Ovation for a cool 400 grand? A Japanese console steel for 300.000?

On the topic of fuzzes: I love a GE fuzz face style pedal. They sound good into my 6L6 tweed deluxe. When I run the silver face Vibrolux (which is dead clean, always) I run the fuzz into an overdrive pedal.

I know people tend to like fuzz faces with single coils, but I also dig them very much with humbuckers.

Thanks for the podcast recommendations a few pages back. I finished Slow Burn season 1 today, will be checking out some of the suggestions y'all made.

Tonight I grabbed my squier P-bass and played along to this classic. Great bassline:

Not sure what to think of this... It seems so absolutely disproportionate.

I wish I was a billionaire. I'd buy his guitar with the EMG's for more just to piss people off.

There's an amazing, wicked smart satirical songstress in town called Miss Tammy Faye Starlite.
She does a lot of theme type gigs.
She had a band with another gal named Jill Richmond called The Mike Hunt Band and they used great players like Mark Spencer and Ken Coomer and did Rolling Stones song like they were classical music (meaning dead on arrangements and parts) Tammy & Jill played Mick & Keith.

One night during the introduction to Dead Flowers she introduced the song in her exaggerated English accent as "one that was written by Keith Richard's dead girlfriend Gram Parsons".

That's really stuck with me over the years.
    Cheers.

Here’s a little half-baked demo of the VB-2W and the Tailspin, with the clean guitar at the very end for reference. They actually sound more alike than I’d originally thought, maybe the Boss is slightly brighter but not by much.
