For those of us who want it all, Redplate's new model "Magica" may just nail it! This sucker has the beautiful blackface channel Redplate is known for with all its glory PLUS an kick ass marshally plexi rock channel. This section is not a pseudo hot rod, but the real deal. Can't put the guitar down smooth, juicy, sustain kind of thing. Yea baby!! Go Redplate.

Cheers

Ha! Just run both real amps in tandem like I do...66 Super and a 67 plexi. :)

What speaker does the combo come with, is it 12"?

This. It seems like the main issue with making this work using a single amp is asking a single speaker (or cab with a single input) to cover both BF cleans and Marshall crunch. You can get close, but as you move deeper into the sonic territory each of these classic amp platforms is best known for, you move further away from a one-speaker-fits-all solution.

The Redplate Magica sounded great at the LA AMP show. Ditto for the smaller Savoy....if you simply don't need the BF cleans!

Yeah, played them both there...the Magica sounded really good and the Savoy was killer, being such a small head with that sound...

I did the blackface and Superlead with an A/B at each show for awhile. I found that in the mix, the transition between the two was too drastic to sound right. For my purposes, going from plexi clean to Plexi/800 distortion makes more sense. Recording is a whole other animal though.

I dunno, EJ has been doing that for going on 40 years....

The Majica was one of the best sounding channel switchers I have heard in a looooonnngg time.

God bless you Henry for doing it right! :aok

Eric has his Blackface Fenders running with the treble cranked to blend the two better...and you'll notice his Marshalls are very 'dark' bassy sounding even on the treble pickup of his strats....part of that is the amps EQ and part vintage fuzz face...
