I was just making a new playlist the other day and I started doing by decades. Then, when I reached the year 2000 'til 2019. I was kinda..like..confused and felt that since then popular, rock or alternative or whatever kinda slowed down.

I was born in '71 and I started listening heavily into music in the 80's, but was also an old soul and somewhat of a music geek. So I am aware of the birth of rock and roll etc..

I find that since 2000. There were only a few "Classic" bands and musicians that came out that was inspiring and stayed their momentum from record to record.

So who are these bands on your list?

My list includes in no particular order.

    The Strokes
    Kings of Leon
    The White Stripes
    The Black Keys
    Vampire Weekend
    The Shins
    Arcade Fire

The Hellacopters. Formed in 1995, broke up in 2008. They are reunited and kicking serious butt. Saw them last Summer and it was just, epic.

No idea on what the best bands are, but I like:

    Audioslave

    Yeah Yeah Yeahs

Rx Bandits - Around since the mid/late 90s, but I think they really gained traction with their 2001 "Progress" and 2003 "The Resignation" albums (especially the latter).

    The Pretty Reckless

    Black Pistol Fire

Im a hard rock/metal guy. I have really been into streaming radio finding stuff I never heard before. The number of GREAT hard rock and metal bands that have come out since 2000, heck since 2010 is staggering. I could have a hard time picking the best 100 let alone just a few. It really opened my eyes, imho, on how not particularly special the big guys really were (are). Tons of nobodys that never got anywhere that just release fantastic records. What a time to be alive.
