Films made in the 1970's weren't known for the same level of attention to historic detail as nowadays.

I recall other scenes in the film where he's on-stage with a blonde/oxblood Fender amp, which would have been produced in 1961 at earliest, two years after Holly's death in February, 1959.
Yeah, I like how in the movie Patton they were using M47, and M48 tanks.

The BHS is famous for getting all the gear "wrong". Also, forgetting there were three Crickets, not two.

Still, it sparked a lot of interest in Buddy at the time.
