I just heard this today; it's quite beautiful sounding IMO.

As much as I love the Cars music the way it was originally released, I'd love to hear remixes like this.

Forget the guitars, that voice was one in a million.

Geez, Elliott may be the most under-appreciated guitarist, ever. So tasteful. And Benjamin Orr is sorely missed. Great vocalist.

JC-120 had built in chorus, and I believe Elliot Easton used a Lab Series L-5 amp, the only onboard effect it had was compression and reverb if I remember correctly.

Sounds like a kazoo. Loved the rest of it though. Definitely flanging used throughout.

Elliot posts frequently on the Les Paul Forum if you want to ask him questions.

That is a really cool version. I like this mix better than the original. I certainly didn't hear the details of the guitars in the original mix.

This is the exact youtube clip I used to get better at playing this tune. It also gave me an appreciation for Orr's vocals. That whole first release is available on line like this. Way cool to listen to.

Honestly, I never gave the details of the tunes any thought because we were so saturated with this band in the northeast. I have heard these tunes thousands upon thousands of times. Only when I dissected some of them for purposes of covering them did I come to appreciate the musicians.

This x10... I was no student of songwriting in my teenage years and when it came to the Cars it seemed to be a newer version of pop music pablum... but you look at some of these lyrics and they connect with you you in a bit deeper level. The Cars best lyrics have an ethereal quality... man, I miss Ben... and how about those impossibly fast and precise licks by Elliot?... I only knew a few guys that could do that..
