is that what its from? i don't know that much except for the newer stuff.

edit: if the A2 is just a multieffects, what is running for that sound?

I don't know which patch it is - I just know that it's one of the only sounds he uses from that unit.

I love that he needs Dallas to plug in the guitar cable even during a quick interview...LOL!

When he demonstrates the sustainer guitar what effect is he stepping on to get that background synth wash? Kind of a like a Space Station effect.

I found it all a bit cringe worthy, to be honest.
I mean, it wasn't even him being funny - it was him genuinely not having a clue how to operate his own rig.
Great player, great sounds, but would like to see him play guitar straight into amp just out of curiosity.

As some of you know i am still in the caribbean and some years ago (don't even ask me how) someone had one guitar that was the Edge's guitar, i don't even know how that thing got here.

It didn't change pickups when you used the toggle, someone explained to me that it changed some settings or some kind of effects, as soon as i speak to my friend i will come back and post what it did, but the toggle didn't switched the pups.

Yeah, but what's he got left to prove to anyone, honestly? The interview was about his guitars and rig and stuff. Why pay a guitar tech to maintain all your crap if you're not gonna make him set it up when it needs to be used? :)

They've done plenty of movies and videos and stuff where you can see Edge playing relatively stripped down if you look for them.

that effect with the sustainer sound, i think its his "shimmer" effect, basically a reverb signal with no dry sound into a separate amp.

I love the "infinite guitar" violin sounding stuff. I could have a lot of fun with that thing!! He's got some killer stuff - guitars, effects, tone(s)

Very cool. Thanks for the link. I assume that his rig is designed to go from song to song, so not going in that order probably adds some confusion to using it.

Totally. Don't get me wrong, he's done stuff with guitar that no-one else has. Period.

What I'd like to know is his thought process when writing parts. Does he write parts with a certain sound/patch in mind? Or write parts and then think later about how to process the sounds?

The infinite guitar was invented by Michael Brook, an amazing guitarist who had a profound influence on the Edge. In fact, Brook may be the reason the Edge went overnight from a few pedals to an enormous rig. Listen to Brook and you will understand why. Highly recommended - "Live from the Aquarium." For the Edge diehards, the two recorded a record together in 1986 called "Captive."

Wow, to think of the thought and energy I put into my 2 guitar, 1 amp, 12 pedal rig. That set up is so intricate and long yet the tone and sounds he attains are unreal. I've never really paid attention to the edge before but I must admit...I'm intrigued.

Haha, that was the first thing I noticed.

Hey, cut the guy a break for needing some help!
He's been at it for 30 years, has how many albums out?
Nobody could remember every setting and every tuning for each song!

BTW - His "infinite" guitar is a Fernandes Retrorocket Elite with a Sustainer.

Great guitar, just bought one on Ebay a few weeks ago for $550 used.
