it's a sound check...vocals are off, recording is bad...but I love this solo:
I have a few . . . in no order of preference . . .
Dire Straits - Tunnel Of Love
Down Around My Place - Bonamassa Live
Don’t let me be misunderstood - Robben Ford
Rubina (Live) - Joe Satriani
Northern Lights - TNT
Sooo many but this one always get the heart rate up a little.....3:00 mark
The last half of this was probably the first one ever for me and still lights me up almost 4 decades later - I heard it at a pretty early age (7 or 8?) and took up air guitar as a result, followed by real guitar a couple of years later:
Toto - Rosanna
(and for the record, I’m a metal head)
I love pretty much anything by Yngwie. Whilst many only hear the speed of his playing, for me it's all about his phrasing, expression, tone, and delicate touch. Just the first note of the electric solo in this song is enough to make me giddy, then he raises the tension with some faster bits, then he resolves the tension with a delicate little arpeggio thing. One of his shortest solos, but contains so much of what I love about his playing.
These two have always really grabbed me...
That descending riff at 2:15 always just killed me.
It can be emotional, tasteful and superfast.
Somebody Get Me a Doctor EVH '79
I’ll share a few.
Blackbird - Alter Bridge
Reapers - Muse
Let Me Hear You Scream - Ozzy
From the album that inspired me to play guitar. The playing is stellar and Eddie's tone is MASSIVE
Starts at 3:30
I feel that Dean Ween is second only to Jimi at stepping on a wah.
Mountain Jam. Allman Bros. From Eat a Peach.. it’s a 20 minute masterpiece. Unfortunately, I listened to this song so much I can play Dickeys and Duanes parts note for note.. and I do my best to be original in my playing both for rhythm and soloing, but that song, forget it.., comes out like the record whether I want to or not....and no, Don’t ask me to start a tribute band
Solo at 2:40 - no protools available back then....
