    Weird. I love XTC. One of the very few bands that has songs I revisit. The Mayor or Simpleton is not among those songs. It's been years and I can hear it. Just a bit too ear wormy for my taste. I love when I write ear worms, but I hate listening to them from other song writers.

    It is sad to think they aren't a band writing and producing great music anymore basically because they couldn't afford it. Some justice in the world huh?

    Just a fantastic song!
    I used to play in a band that covered this and the bass player not only nailed the bass line but he sang the lead vocal as well!
    Still don't know how he did that:)

    I'm surprised no one responded to this.
    Yet.
    XTC really is about as progressive (in the complexity of their songwriting) as alternative/new wave ever got.

    BTW, if I may respond to myself here, I believe the C in the third position is actually a D11. But I'm open to correction from someone who really knows his music theory!
