Damage Control Timeline, EHX Pog when it first came out
. Trio price was $295.95 upon its release in Jan 2015. Price dropped down to $179.95 by the end of the year when Trio+ was announced.
That was MAP (actually $224.95) street price was $179.95.
The only two pedals I've bought new:
That would be the SunLion with the bells/whistles @ $385 or so. I had a handful of $300 boxes, but I rarely go outside of the $100-$200 mark.
I've paid for some pricey ones myself, I feel its not an expense if it really provides the tone you're after and you take good care of it:
Analog Alien Fuzzbubble 45 = $250 (sold for $200 approx 1 year later)
Spaceman Effects Atlas III Booster = $300 (sold for $200 approx 1 year later)
JJ Rockett Design Alien Echo = $200 (sold for $150 approx 1 year later)
Shift-Line Astronaut Reverb = $225 (sold for $175 approx 1 year later)
The above "boutique brands" were bought from 2015 thru 2016 when I had moved from a 30+ year love affair of full rack mounted FX and solid state amps to pedalboards filled with analog FX and all tube amps. I will never return to rack & ss and don't care much for modeling amps and multi-fx, however I do have 1 modeling amp the Fender Mustang III 112 combo ($325) and 1 multi-fx Zoom G1on ($50) which I consider the best of them for their price range.
After that short year in which I too fell victim to the marketed hype of "Boutique brands" I decided they were good quality and tone but definitely not worth their hype and price tag, I returned to those classic old school vintage FX companies that did it best back in the day; excellent tone, quality built, reasonably priced- MXR/Dunlop, Ibanez, DOD, Boss, etc...they worked for me back then as they are doing for me right now. They were widely used by all the famous guitarist during the 70's & 80's on countless iconic and epic recordings that fueled my musical interests & influenced my playing.
MXR EVH 5150 Overdrive = $200 (on my present day all MXR/Dunlop pedalboard)
MXR Reverb M300 = $200 (on my present day all MXR/Dunlop pedalboard)
Dunlop Echoplex = $200 (on my present day all MXR/Dunlop pedalboard)
NOTE: I consider pricey to be $200 or more for a single effect pedal.
Strymon BigSky £450
Boss SY-300 £399
Eventide H9 Max £349 (I bought a S/H Harmoniser for £199 and upgraded it to max during the 'Max it for 10 algos' promotion last January).
I've bought plenty of £200-£300. My favourite pedal still remains my £45 DOD 250 RI, although my DIG is a close second.
SY-300 is the only one that remains and has become more of a desktop/DAW unit.
KoT $325 (from Analogman)
Wampler Dual Fusion $250
Don’t have either one anymore.
Landgraff Mo'D - $300
Most of the music I play calls for clean or low-mid gain overdrive tones. The Mo'D is the only overdrive I have owned that can get convincing higher-gain overdrive sounds with single coil or humbucking pickups. Works great for slide guitar too. It has been well worth the price.
Unique Vibe. Think I paid about $850 for it used. I think it's about $1,200 new.
Empress Superdelay ($450 +/-).
£1450 was the gross spend, but it cost me less in real terms.
Bought a Gold Horsie for £650 in around 2010/2011ish. Sold that for £1850 in 2017 and bought a silver for £1450.
So overall, that pedal cost me £250. Not bad.
Even DigiTech own site still keeps the original MSRP - $295.95.
Way Huge Camel Toe SN#001
Way Huge Screaming Beaver
Toneczar Echoczar and Angelbaby
Van Weelden Royal Overdrive
It still wasn't STREET price, STREET price was $179.95. This is getting weird, I'm out.
Map + street= automatically gets lost
I think I saw Trio offered for $295 right after the release early 2015. But I might be wrong. You know it better. Trio is a great device anyway and can be found for $99 and even less these days which is a steal. I have both Trio and Trio+ and like these devices a lot.
Skreddy Mayo - $300 USD
Pigdog Electric Eyes MKI clone.
Toneczar Powerglide mono at $345 + shipping... and waited from 2008 - 2011 to get it
Freethetone Flight Time at $345 (used)/
Just can't get myself to break that barrier for a pedal unless it's a multieffector (which I don't count for these purposes).
