Been digging on a bunch of Hank's stuff lately, as well as Wayne the Train and Dale Watson.

If ya'll have any suggestions as far other guys like this, I'd love to hear them.

Here's one of my favorites [NSFW]

BTW, it's probably a good idea to be fairly nice, as he's a member here and might come over to your house.

    Just Kidding. [I think]

Big fan, we do several of his songs. One of my favs is the second cd from Straight to hell. He will not be pigeon holed.

His association with sector 9 skateboards is the reason we heard of him years ago, very cool.

Huge fan. Tremendous songwriter and a killer player in a bunch of styles. Love his metal stuff.

    I dig Hank III.

This is what C&W is supposed to sound like IMO. When I tell people I "dig some Country", this is exactly what I mean.

He also has Johnny Hiland on his records...killer.

I've seen III in concert twice. Blown away both times. It's as intense as any rock show and it's REAL. I've also seen Dale Watson and Wayne Hancock. They're great as well. That's what country music is to me! You may want to check out an artist named Whitey Morgan as well.

I like Hank III a lot. I like the country stuff better than the punk stuff. Sometimes you would swear it's Hank Sr. singing.

Big fan here as well. I'm sure he's heard this a million times, but damn he looks like his gran daddy...

Amazing what a trust fund and some good weed can produce. :p

It's like the Hank gene jumped a generation. Hank II never did a lot for me but I dig hank III. I also heard he don't get much money if any out of the family fund. Even if he does good on him. He's the real deal.

"Dad took off when I was two. I was raised by my mom. Dad paid the child support, $650 a month ?till I was eighteen, and that was about it. I only saw him maybe once or twice a year, either killing something or watching him do a show. "

    It's part of the narrative.

What's he going to do say "I don't need to worry about hits because I'm country royalty and have a ton of dough. That lets me write songs about smoking dope and how modern country sucks."

    Perhaps.

Although, if I thought of myself as "country royalty [?]", I probably wouldn't have spent 10 years playing drums for $50 a night in obscure punk bands.

If you had a trust fund, a taste for drugs and a redneck FU attitude like he does that is exactly what you would do.
