I got my Yugo tube yesterday for my BK Butler tube driver...

so i took some photos for ya coz when i went looking there werent any good photo's of this tube anywhere...

as far as sound goes it sounds exactly like you would imagine.. think eric johnson and david gilmour, they both are currently using the reissue tube drivers with this tube...

I would also love to know.

I have tried various 12ax7s and 12at7s and 12au7s in my TubeDriver and never quite been satisfied.

Are these available on the market?

I've got a TubeWorks RT-2100 head that has two of those in it. My guess, after doing a bit of research, is that they are manufactured by Ei in the former Yugoslavia. These used to be fairly inexpensive tubes, but apparently Ei has temporarily shut down operations, and so the supply has dropped to nothing and the prices are sky-high.

I bought a pair when they were about $10 each and put them in that TubeWorks head. Sounded remarkably similar to the stock "Real" tubes.

Ei may not be the manufacturer of the Real tubes, as that's just my guess based on geography and a single, unscientific listening test. So take that for what it's worth. ;)

EJ would probably not use those, he likes real things that don't say "real" on them ;)

I noticed a significant difference from the stock BK tube which is unmarked...
it basically makes a good pedal great... it's like playing a stock TS and then going to an MJM blues devil or AM silver mod or something... ya know what i mean?

it really is the EJ and Gimour sound...

Are these the same as EI/Yugos? BTW BK quoted me 50$ for the Real Tube Yugos.

I got one of these to try in my TD and have to say that it sounds very good! I'm comparing the Yugo to the Bugle Boy I had in there. The Yugo's very neutral sounding and smooth. The Bugle Boy feeds back a bit easier than the Yugo but it is microphonic (that's why I put it in the TD). I like that the Yugo is lighter in the bass because I find the TD to be a bit heavy in the bass/lower mids.

I'll gig it tonight and see how it is live.

Ok, I ran my TD with the Yugo tube at volume yesterday (P&W thingy) and have to say it's the "real" deal! Even our leader commented on how my guitar sounded like a violin during my volume swells. It really gets the violin tone and it seems really balanced; tight lows and I can actually add some highs without going harsh.

It stacks well with my modded Sd-1, DS-1, Rat clone, and my Hotcake. My gigging axe is a Carvin Bolt, freshly refretted by Phil Jacoby, SS frets, S,S,H/split but it sounds great with my Reverend and my EJ too.

The tube was pricey but worth it!

I'm definitely convinced... this is definitely one pedal that has helped me acheive the tone that is in my head... when i run it thru my BF's and stacked with my FD2 or Blues Devil i find it gets really close to cream's wheels of fire live... particularly spoonful which for me is the tonal benchmark...

You travel from Sunny Buffalo to Baltimore for a fret job?
Phil Jacoby's work is worth the trip!
