... and in the words of the Good Reverend Billie G, "Have Mercy!!!"

This guitar is stunning. I don't mean visually - though I do think it looks great - as much as I mean from a playing perspective. Hot damn, this is one hot axe.

I saw Buddy Whittington play a Lentz through a Mini Z, and I was awed by his tone - and by his playing, too, let's face it. Buddy's the man.

Anyway, I acquired a Mini Z head recently, and so I was one Lentz short of that sonic equation... no more.

I am uploading a video of it as I type this.

Sorry, but gotta go back to cranking them blue notes...

    Great pics!

I agree - Lentz guitars are amazing in every way: Fit, finish, feel, and especially tone.

    Congrats on your new guitar.

Thanks Dave. This one is not brand new. She has some dings, but she has tons of character. She's automatically become my #1 stage guitar... except that I rarely play on stage :)

That neck is a thing of beauty. I can't wait to play her through the Carmen Ghia tonight.

Now don't take this the wrong way, but that guitar actually made the Z sound great to my ears.

I've never really dug the sound of DR Z amps, but the Lentz gave it girth and a smooth grind that I usually find lacking in those amps. I'm going to say that holds true to the other clips I've watched of yours with different guitars.

Night and day to me with this one. By far, the best tones I've heard from your reviews for what I like.

    Thanks!

    Thanks guys :)

As for the Z tones, please notes that all the other videos were with the attenuator on 4, i.e. full blast. This one didn't have the attenuator on at all, so what you heard was the actual amp.

I think that guitar was mine at one time!!!

I opted to keep my DL-90. I exchanged that HSL for an SSL.

Scott Lentz makes the most toneful axes I've played.

Funny you should mention the SSL... I am trying to acquire one :)

As for the HSL, I'm at work, and I am dying to call it a day and go home to play her :)

I will admit that when that guitar first came out, I was not fond of the looks---and said so on this board.

I have changed my mind. I really think he guitar looks great now, and the design has grown on me. Thanks to the video, I know it sounds good. Great job.

Thanks Steve. I must admit that the design of the pickguard is what originally threw me off, but I am now quite in love!

The only thing I would change is the placement of the switch. I keep hitting it when I play. I suppose I'll get used to that at some point. The good news is that the guitar sounds great in all three positions anyway :D

I'm another guy who has come around on the looks. Particularly in person. The switch location initially seemed problematic for me, but now it works better for me than the "conventional" tele position (at least without the plate flipped so the switch is full astern).

Very toneful playing there. Inspired me to get out mine:

Thanks for the review and congrats, I've always liked the look of those, but it sounds fantastic as well, judging from that clip!

Thanks guys for the kind words. Blauserk, yours has binding, too!

BTW, this is a dangerous guitar. Playing it makes you think that your other guitars are not going to see a lot of action anymore :)
