For those of you who remember the SoundSeat, JR Baker is back making his seats. IMHO, this is the most comfortable playing seat for guitarists that there is. I reviewed them on my website, HERE, if you are interested. His site is HERE. I don't want to shill but I thought some of you might be interested so I'll leave it at that.

A Roc N Soc is the other leading candidate... pretty good but I read enough reviews about having to replace hardware in the gas adjustable throne I prefer that I've put off deciding to go that way for now... the tower isn't adjustable and is too tall for my preferences but one of their thrones was tempting

Do you know/remember what height gas adjust you have (if it's gas)? The 2 non-adjustable seats I tend to use are right at 19-20" so I wonder if it's better to have one that goes 17-21" and use it midway/towards the top, vs. the 19-24" model and use it more towards the bottom.

I'm thinking minutiae like whether in the long run it's better to have the gas shock less compressed rather than sitting at full compression (?). :cool:

And with the foot rest ring, maybe one w/ higher range might be better/more flexible...

From memory, mine has the 140mm gas lift. It has a foot ring and a left foot rest. With the ring, I think the standard lift is 200mm, but I found that to be a tad high for me. I like to have my knees and backside at the same height so the guitar doesn't slip down. With the lift bottomed out, I can put my right foot flat on the floor and rest my left foot on the ring or footrest and play either classical style or play a Les Paul. I'm 5'10" with shortish legs. JR sent me the lower gas lift after I got the seat and felt it was a tad high.

You can talk to JR and he can help you figure this stuff out. Replacing the gas lift requires a hammer to tap it out and is pretty easy.

Yes, thanks. That sounds just right. I'm 5'8" with shortish legs and measuring 2 fixed seats I use (19-20") I thought 140mm would be right. May go for that foot rest in addition to the ring, too, I'll talk to JR & see what he suggests.

These look great. I'm going to order a guitar one first. I wonder if he does custom colors or colored stitching? Something to match my Vintage Vibe 64 would be killer.

Edit: I just saw their custom options... Fantastic.

Got the call from JR himself last nite. I haven't logged on in a while but wanted to spread the news...however Bob W beat me to the punch it seems.
I see where i rank JR. :cry:

Seriously though, my Sound Seat is still going strong after 3 - 4 yrs. and his customer service was next to none.

I called him a year or two ago to have my stage name embroidered onto a new seat back as opposed to my real name. He told me that he wasn't able, that there were some business things going on so I just wrote it off. I'll be damned if he didn't call me back and know exactly what I wanted to do all this time later.

Bottom line: quality product, quality customer service, happy customer.
