After watching part(not all) of the Grammy's last night, first things I noticed is that was no longer the Hip Hop or rap awards. My kids don't like Hip Hop or Rap, they prefer Rock Music.

Last year, the only performance that I can remember that was genuine was Bon Jovi. This year, there was tons of great performances, the only one I though sucked was Chris Brown and Rhianah.

Foo Fighters win. Bruno Mars rocks the house with a more traditional style...Tribute to beach boys... Adele is a complete opposite image of most Pop music. VH realeased a new album. Maybe Grace Potter wins an award next year...

    Thoughts...

    What?

    http://www.grammy.com/nominees?year=2011&genre=28

:huh EDIT I guess you are saying it no longer dominated by rap and hip hop? I am not sure it ever was dominated it may have been more prominent in years past, pop music ebbs and flows.

You saw that performance last night and came away with "he sucks" ... man tough crowd.

??? What? So should there be no country at the grammys because there are the AMAs and CMA awards shows? Or no rock because there is the Rock and Roll hall of fame shows? Hip Hop and Rap are very popular forms of music, it makes sense that the Grammys will have artists from this genre. And it is hardly form of music that is relegated to BET.

I started checking out Karmin this weekend. Super talented IMO. Amy raps her ass off and smokes just about any rapper that I have heard. Great rhythms, diction, and speed.

Plus they are multi-instrumentalists. Great singing too. Trombone, guitar, drums, keys.

    Love it!!!

Hmmm...I felt exactly the opposite after seeing them on SNL. Probably the worst act I've witnessed on there. It was as if Katy Perry started doing twee rap cover songs. Do they have originals or do they only do covers? Im also assuming you've heard a very tiny selection of rappers if you think that girl 'smokes' most of them. I saw it more as parody.

Hip Hop has been replaced by modern country.

Go to YouTube. I did not watch SNL.

For example, compare this clip to Busta Rhymes (she also handles all the other raps and LIVE in the studio no retakes. She is better for me. Even though it is his rap... She has better rhythm, diction, and clarity. She is super talented. So what if she is not a thug. She sings her ass off. And no AUTOTUNE ever.
