Originals :
Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Ron Wood

Recent touring help:
Darryl Jones - bass
Steve Jordan - drums
Chuck Leavell - keyboards
Matt Clifford - keyboards
Tim Ries - saxophone
Karl Denson - saxophone
Sasha Allen - background singer
Bernard Fowler - background singer

1) Wonder how much these people make for their contributions?

2) Wonder how proud they are to say they played with the Stones?

I wonder what Daryl and Ron get compared to the glimmer twins.
One thing I learned from Ron Woods biography is that he can burn through, and has lost more $ through bad business decisions then one can imagine. He usually needs advances on tours.

He reminds me of the great lines in Kieth's song Happy.

Well I never kept a dollar past sunset,
It always burned a hole in my pants.
Never made a school mama happy,
Never blew a second chance.

Other than guys stepping into major rhythm section roles (bass, drums) this is just business as usual for the Stones since the early 70’s. They’ve always had utility players like Bobby Keys or Chuck Leavell around for extra instrumentation even in what people regard as their classic era, so unlike a lot of bands who stayed with a core group until their nostalgia circuit tour, it doesn’t feel wrong to me.

Two of those names (Jones and Leavell) have been touring with them for 30 years. That tells me they are being paid enough to continue to do so for 30 years and, I would suspect that, after 30 years, the proud part never gets a second thought.

I imagine Darryl, Bernard and Chuck are earning very well.

I saw an interview with Darryl from years ago and he said he makes more playing as a hired gun with the Stones than he ever probably would at his age trying to make it with any other band.

I would guess that they’re millionaires many times over.

No, It's about the entertainers that have sold more tickets than any other entertainers ever.

i saw a stat that Darryl’s net worth is only listed at $8 million; not sure I believe that. I would have suspected him to be worth more after decades with the Stones, even as a hired hand.

They might have been a bigger band had they debuted with Beggars Banquet and then had a nasty break up after Goat Heads Soup and never played together again. :dunno

I could be wrong but they had a great thing going on with that formula. :knitting
