There was no "what the crap were we doing" look on Carrolls face after the play.

I still can't even believe it happened. Lynch in the backfield, fifty seconds left, and you throw the ball??? They gave away the super bowl. Mind boggling.

Because he thought everyone knew it was going to Lynch.

Thing is, even if the entire defense knew it was going to Lynch, he still would've gotten in.

My apologies for starting another three about it. I watched the game on DVR and was about an hour behind real time. Saw that play and immediately popped in and started the thread.

I went back and watched some after game stuff and saw Carrolls explanation. Sound like he thought the worse thing that could happen was the pass get broken up, then they'd run on 3rd and 4th down... Not so much Pete.

Exactly. No one was second-guessing him when he didn't kick a sure field goal with six seconds left in the half. Hindsight.....

This. And... don't forget that the Hawks got David-Tyree-lucky on the catch that got 'em to the goal line. And....Brady came back from 10 down with 2 unanswered TD's and the Pats D stopped several Seattle drives in the 2nd half. They didn't "give away" the Superbowl. The Patriots came back, held the lead and won.

Man, you Seahawk fans are tough on Carroll....I bet you loved his CRAZY NUTTY call with 6 seconds left in the half to go and get that touchdown though right?

Yes indeed. I was freaking out but they hit it. I cannot say they don't have the balls to go for it. I'd have handed the ball to Lynch no matter what but Pete is far better at football than I'll ever be. We got beat. Congratulations Patriots!

    Go Hawks!

Thank you sir, pretty sure it was the most incredible game I've ever seen in my 48 years. Much respect back at 'cha. The Pats looked good in the first half, save the int. In the 2nd half I started getting that sinking feeling that we were going down. The Hawks are a great team and I can't believe how Wilson just throws up those rainbows and their receivers (Matthews, in this case) come down with them. He is a great QB and the Pats were quite fortunate to have virtually unknown rookie make a game winning play. I was thinking I was going to need some valium!

I just wish Brady had run up to Sherman afterwards screaming, "You mad Bro??!" :bitch

Yes. Yes it was. I'm still speechless. Props to the Pats for pulling it out again,
