Been listening to The Sword since Age of Winters and have always loved what they do. Haven't heard much of the new record Apocryphon (2 songs) although I do plan to buy it. Anyone heard it? How is it?

I bought two of their cd's after seeing them at the Norman music festival a few years ago. The cd's, while being good, did not capture how great the live show was. They remind me of early Sabbath and ROCKED live!

I will be picking this up tomorrow. The Sword are great live, and I've enjoyed all of their discs thus far.

Not a huge fan, but this easily their best. Serious, uptempo Sabbath vibe on display. Maybe it's time to revisit the older ones, because this is right up my alley!

I loved their first one, but need to get back on board. How many more albums are there? Age of Winters was very cool.

Wow-thanks for introducing me to this band. I love the depth of the music and they definitely have a modern Sabbath vibe. Great stuff.

There are 3 other albums other than Age of Winters

Age of Winters
Gods of the Earth
Warp Riders
Apocryphon

I recommend all of them other than the newest just because I haven't heard it but according to the reviews, posts here, and the history of the band I can assume it's great as well. Gonna pick it up today.

Listening through Apocryphon for the first time right now and so far I think they're getting better with age.

I've been listening to it for a few days, and I really like it overall. I think that, for the most part, it sounds more like Gods of the Earth or Age of Winters, especially the latter. There are some places that the more hard-rock Warp Riders sound comes through, but it's denser sounding. The vocals sound different, to me, more in mix than style. Only one of the songs (Cloak of Feathers) has really stuck with me, but the rest is very good. Of course, the more I listen.... :dude:

FWIW, my favorite Sword album is Gods of the Earth, then Warp Riders, then Age of Winters.

I don't know if it's on the CD (I assume so) but the download version has 5 live tracks at the end, the last of which is a cover of Cheap Sunglasses that had me looking up from what I was doing to figure out where the ZZ Top was coming from.

Oooooo I am digging this one, I would say it's a blend of their previous releases but with the production leaning in the Warp Riders camp.
