And beat up. I bought one for 600.00 a year ago, very clean. 600.00-700 is about right these days.

    Pretty crazy.

I wouldn't have that on my pedalboard for free. It's just a mid hump EQ and a diode or two. A Koko Boost (but not just that one) gives you way more control over the mid hump you want, and there are thousands of ways to add a layer of diode gain over a mid hump. Or not, if your amp will provide gain on its own.

The whole point of a tubescreamer, to me, is that it is a cheap and easy way of accomplishing those things. Lol.

With simple circuits like that, my take is that they vary enough between each other that finding "the" box that you like is more a matter of trying a few dozen in a neutral setting. But people are always taken by the idea that there's a magic circuit out there, and it's always the older one.

I mean the price is obviously not about the circuit, it is about the idea of a collector’s item. But even then, I was surprised to not see a “Make an Offer” option. Holding firm at over 1k.

UPDATE: Whelp, I did a Reverb sold search and over 20 sold for more than $900 with several in the 1.5k range...so there are people out there.

I guess I could sell one of my amps or a guitar and buy it.

This is why you don't glorify vintage gear. Relative scarcity, "mojo," and being vintage/antique gives some the "right" to charge exorbitant prices.

    So...there's a saying out there...

'When a man with experience meets a man with money...
...the man with the experience winds up with the money...
...and the man with the money winds up with an experience.

Too rich for my blood, but I liked the first “review” of the pedal.

Also, $12 for shipping is pretty reasonable.

Well, if it was $1500, you'd be saving a full $500. Now, $500 of saving sounds pretty good, doesn't it? Just focus on that. :p

Would love to see what they’d list an original Klon for.

I have one (paid 20€) and it sounds IDENTICAL to my TS808HW, probably the best TS ever made...go figure...

Ads like that drive a lot of traffic to reverb.com (or any other site that wants to post something on the outlandish side) which far outweighs the value of selling the pedal at that price.

A collecting mentality is very different from a using mentality. I use guitars but I collect fountain pens. It would never occur to me to berate what someone pays for a pedal. It would be the pot calling the kettle black based on how much I'll pay for a vintage fountain pen.

Everyone here knows that. Doesn't stop the "OMG" posts when something like this hits Reverb. I guess its just part of the general hilarity around these parts. And I wouldn't have it any other way, don't go changing', TGP!
