Yep, Bobby Kimball. I enjoyed his tenure in Toto, but I like Joe Williams much better.

    Ditto.
Fergie Fredrikson may have been the best of the bunch, but that didn't last more than an album sadly.

Man, if only one of the many bands I've been in was half as tight as that band...

Amazing band. Bobby is a LA Cajun, and now in the Louisiana Music All of Fame. Great voice that was perfect for Toto. The band name may have come from Bobby's real last name, Toteaux. He really could sing soul, rock, jazzy stuff and make it work. Great range and versatility.

How about Lukather touring with a real burst back then?

I remember the first time he was shown the door there was some talk that he was replaced with a prettier dude because he wasn't good looking enough as a front man. There was a fair amount of backlash from fans and eventually he came back. I have no idea if that was just some yellow journalism and if there were much deeper musical reasons... but every time he was replaced they were obviously putting looks into the package LOL.

Yeah, great voice, and confident onstage despite being a bit hobbitoid. Not so much a strong singer nowadays, but we all get older and it's pretty rare for a guy with that upper vocal register to be able to maintain it into middle age (Steve Perry comes to mind). It's a physical thing.

Deeper reasons. As I recall Steve had the same opinion as EVH...that all singers get LSD after awhile. (Lead Singer Disorder).
Might be why they had Steve lead on Kingdom of Desire and Tambu...then they went back to lead singers.

Might be my favorite Toto cut from the Joe Williams era...

Just saw Toto this past Saturday and they were on fire. Joe's voice is amazing.

I saw some Bobby Kimball videos done a couple years ago and they are really bad.
