I've been watching The Voice this season for the first time w/ my wife and daughters. A few observations:

1. The singers are really good. Pretty much all of them. Way better talent than any of other "singer reality shows" that I've seen.

2. The format is entertaining. I like the competitions.

3. I'm finding the four Coaches (Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine, Ce-Lo, and Blake Shelton) to be genuine, smart, perceptive, and surprisingly likable.

4. The band is excellent. They're rarely seen but on the last show the guitarists appeared to be playing Bogner amps, if anyone's curious.

Anybody else a fan of the show (or not)?

I could have written your post OP. It's a GREAT show as far as I can see.
Wasn't expecting it.

I haven't been watching, but at least the judges have credibility, unlike who they usually get Judging American Idol. Some AI judges should feel guilty about critiquing other singers.

I'm a fan of The Voice. I like it by far the best of all the similar shows.

NO Sanjaya public voting factor and NO Barry Manilow week like A.I. X-factor was tolerable and had some integrity last year, this season fogettaboutit (canned audience applause, studio perfect singer performances, long drawn out back stories, judges palatial show-off mansions,..gimme a break).

I didn't pay enough attention to the voice. That show is hitting a stride IMO. The judges have grown on me and there are so many dynamics at play since they control the decisions. For examply you never know if the feedback is a sandbag effort to undermine each other in the decision making process. The music styles represented are broad enough albeit perhaps a bit narrower but it gets to the point. I didn't need to see Scotty doing Beatles week on A.I. for example. The song choices have been current with some great classics in the mix. Plus Cee lo is too cool weird in a good way, Mary J. I have mad respect for, even Rob Thomas commands some respect...Billy Joe seems out of place though.

I'm glad my wife makes me watch it ;).

He's the most impressive performer to date IMO. As they all said, "nobody sounds like you." And that was meant in a positive way. Will be interesting to see if his "look" kills him.

I've enjoyed every season of that show, almost despite myself. Didn't know much about CeeLo, and his knowledge of music across genres really impressed me.

Isn't the guitarist Justin D'errico?
(Pink's touring guitarist, and Bogner user)

This is TGP! Kudos for positive Bogner ID!

The guitarist is Rafael Moreira, and yes he's a Bogner user.

I don't watch much TV but that show has caught my eye when one of my daughters watches it and I've really enjoyed it.

Ha, my mistake - I think Justin does The Voice in Australia. Rafael was Pink's guitarist before Justin, btw - must be something in how she breeds them :)

It's a great show and format. I love how they stress talent over broad appeal, marketability, and appearance like Idol.

It's the only show like that I can stand to watch...they REALLY have excellent singers. It's incredibly difficult to pull that off. No hittin' your stride 3 tunes into the set. It's just, "GO!" sing for 2 minutes and then judged. Not an easy thing for anyone to do, much less those who don't have extensive live experience. I'm very impressed with how well many of the very young contestants do.

PS: Justin D WAS the guitarist on The Voice (USA) last season (I think he's on tour with Pink during filming this season) and god, he is SO, SO freakin' good and his tone is amazing.

PPS: Being from OK, I've done several shows with Blake Shelton in the past, and he really is exactly like he is on the show. Very funny, charming, genuinely nice dude.

I remember him from 'Rock Star' ... now THAT was a cool show! I do like the Voice though, so much better than AI or X-factor.

If you guys ever noticed, Rafael was Pink guitarist but he left to do Rockstar Inns and then Rockstar supernova, which he killed, then Rafael and the rest of the band gone on a tour with Paul Stanley, obviously Justin Derrico replaced him on Pink's touring band.
In the first two seasons with the voice, Justin Derrico was the guitarist and now Rafael replaced him which is him back with the same band from Rockstar supernova, Inns, Rock the cradle.

Both Guitar players are SICK, but one crazy thing about Rafael is that he released a Samba Jazz fusion album called acid guitar which is instrumental, and then he released a Rock power trio which has vocals with his band, He is pretty versatile guitarist, I think thats why he is all over.

I noticed some killer leads on Blake & Co. doing Life is a Highway that made me sit up. My wife has the Pink in Europe older DVD concert and Rafael was playing prior to Justin but I hadn't connected the dots. He has made skillz and think he is great.

I will say the Voice house band for me is the best out of all the shows (with the exception of the earlier AI years and of course JF's the Roots).

The Voice's Verizon platform with that chatty young girl has to go though, the format needs some tweaking/improvement.
