Have you seen this yet? If not, you heard it here first.

I popped it into watch a couple of the clips and they jammed right out of the box, so I proceeded to watch more...then...

about only three songs in Townshend, Daltrey, and Entwhistle poop out...I mean they look like they are 60 years old after those first three songs...BUT...

Moon is just coming to life!!!!

Throughout the rest of the film Moon is basically challenging the rest of them to got off their asses and jam. It's an amazing scene to see probably the most f'ed up person on stage completely on fire. His playing is magical...BY FAR the best Moon footage I have ever seen.

At one point Pete gets pissed off about the whole thing and starts smashing cups off his amps and knocks an amp head off the stack, Pete is furious, and Moon is just laughing at him. Pete's bitching at the crowd because for the most part Moon's got the crowd on fire and the rest of The Who are completely flat. Then Daltrey kind of moves off stage and I'm think "****, at this point he might as well let Moon front the band too since he's doing everything else"...then Pete gives him the mic!!!! And he starts fronting the band. And the crowd is nut over this.

I was never expecting this (the band to crap out so quick), but Moon's performance is stunning and relentless, nobody floats around a huge kit like that, a true genius on fire...and on fuel I'm sure ;)

If you haven't seen it, it's a must for every Who fan and everyone who can appreciate a magical performance. To tell you the truth, I was in tears at some points during it...Moon was that good.

I love this show, it's totally reckless and out of control. When Pete got pissed at his guitar tech and started knocking his amps over it made me leap out of my chair and give a fist pump, you just don't see this kind of rock&roll anymore. You can tell Pete and John are both pretty boozed up. If I remember correctly I think Entwhistle said this was the only Who show where he was drunk.

This dvd is what turned me around on the Who. They are just so much better live than in the studio.

The scary thing is that even boozed up they still blow every other band on the planet off the stage live!!!

Did you see how the rest of the band other than Moon pretty much crapped out about the 3rd song and then came to life for Won't Get Fooled Again at the end.

Moon ruled that show.

IIRC, that concert was put together specifically to film for the "The Kids Are Alright" documentary (I have both on DVD). Good stuff all the way around.

Got it for Christmas last year.... For a "****** show", according to Jeff Stein, I LOVE it. They hadn't performed live together in about a year, and for sure they are rusty, but still put on a great show. I agree that Moon was definitely the driving force....

I love the part where Pete gets pissed off at his amp tech, because he's messing with them all though the first few songs. When Pete goes to grab a pick (which he kept in the vent area on top), there weren't any, so he pushes the stack over on the tech! Then he turns around and keeps playing, sans pick!

Great DVD for sure.......
