Best TV drama of all time my arse. I am on Season 2 right now and I don't get why so many think that this is one of the best TV dramas ever. It's good - let me get that out of the way now. But to me it's more a glorified Law and Order with lots of cursing.

Yeah, but shows like Dexter, Breaking Bad, and Homeland sucked you in right away. I'm not getting that with The Wire.

I think The Wire resonates with certain folks. I happen to think its the best show ever. I love re-watching it just to take it all in. Best writing.

I still think Breaking Bad is the best. Dexter really turned south in later episodes. Homeland I just think is okay IMO.

Stick with The Wire and you'll be glad.

And check out Deadwood if you haven't.

Tried to watch it three separate times and couldn't get into it. Bad cinematography and hokey acting. I'll agree it was essentially Law & Order with profanity:dunno

Dexter was horseshit. The wire is quality like Game of Thrones and Breaking Bad. Its on a different level of quality. Stay tuned

I think some viewers simply cannot relate with the main characters enough in The Wire to develop a liking for it. Not everyone is going to be able to relate to a Stringer Bell or Omar Little enough to understand why they are simply fantastic characters

Gave it a shot and found it to be forced and the dialogue less than natural.

The Shield was instantly captivating. One of my favorite shows.

Liked The Shield, but after the second season, the plot lines became so OTT it was like watching a comic book.

One of the most overrated shows ever; I couldn't make it thru the first season.

    :)

It's ok if you don't like it. Seeing shows well after the fact can be problematic. They get so built up that there's no way they can live up to the hype. (The first Batman movie was like that). Also, you might have heard about certain things and they lose their effect if you've already heard them. Like seeing Big Lebowski only after years of your friends quoting the lines). If you had watched it cold, you might like it better.

The Sopranos is still the best in my book. It kickstarted the TV golden era we are in now. Love The Wire though, the social commentary is amazing in that show. It is a slow burn type of show though, I could see how some folks might not like it.

It's a bit frightening that someone considers this a golden era in TV. :omg
