Alex, I know it's a bit early, but do you know what the footswitch will look like, or at least the rough size? Also will it be a two button unit, controlling the Clean/Overdrive volume controls and then the loop return kill?

From my experience with this amp thus far, I would think it would be hard to capture all this amp is about in a sound clip, something that should be experienced in person first if possible. Very inspiring amp to play for sure and quite unique but not a "wierd" unique if that makes any sense...

Hopefully, it'll make an appearance at the L.A. amp show.

LA AmpShow: it's a big question mark. If I go it will mean a little longer wait time for those who already ordered their amps. If I don't go I'll miss all the fun and perhaps some orders. It's a dilemma. I'll let my wallet make the decision at 5 to 12.

    Anyway, keep the questions coming.
Here's one I was waiting for but nobody asked: why 23 watt output power, not 20 or 25, prime number thing aside?

Well, it's sort of me showing off to myself... ..I've set design target to 23W continuous sine power output at 5% THD i.e. onset of clipping. Just to test how close to target will the amp measure on the test bench.
Here we go: with 8 Ohm dummy load and very clean 400Hz sine wave at the input, preamp knobs at 12 o'clock, MV at max.
Amp hooked up to HP audio analyzer, Tektronix scope, Variac adjusted to nominal 230V mains voltage.
Scope blue trace=input, yellow trace=output, onset of clipping
    400Hz THD 5.5%
    [IMG]

    Output power 22.5W
    [IMG]

It outputs 23W at 6% THD or 22W at 5%.

Not too shabby if I may say so myself and not to forget transformer guys who followed my custom specs meticulously without complaining and calling me crazy. At least not within my earshot ;)
Ah, yes, almost forgot: the FX LOOP is installed and tested! No opamps or MOSFET buffers, all tube. Switchable return gain 0db and +10 db.
Happened to have a generic no name wah-wah pedal so I plugged it into the loop. Set as serial loop it just quacks but cool thing happens with loop set to parallel mode and wah just subtly mixed into a clean dry/raw signal. Fast pedaling Tour de France style (bicycle riders will understand) results in flangy wah with a hint of chorus.
There will be no extra charge for the loop.:D

If you're coming to Nashville expo bring your pedal and have a go!

Cool info Alex! You've done your homework! How well does the loop work as a solo boost if using no pedals?

Also, could you explain a bit more about the Clean and OD master volume controls, how do you get overdrive, do you run the OD Master lower so it overdrives, or does it introduce extra gain?

It's me jet lagged and suffering from lack of sleep pretending to know what I'm talking about.
The headless body playing guitar in this video belongs to none other than Bill Compeau aka fyrwyr.:D

=> Voojo, I'll explain the Clean & XOD Master Volume controls later in the week.

I smell somebody trying to corner the market.:nono
Sorry guys, only one amp per customer:D

Meanwhile, in my left brain hemisphere, or whatever is left of it, something has spun off the Zagray! in form of a tube based stomp box. I hope to bring a presentable unit to Nashville. I call it "the debooster".....intended to call it "unbooster" but that name is already in use. What does it do? - Your guess is just as good as anybodys :crazyguy

Awe shucks, now you made me blush:eek:

What an absolute honor to play on that video, the funny thing is I somehow couldn't play on my own Ark demo and had someone else in the room do it for me, REALLY!!!

Glad I was in a good place at this time of the taping...
