    Alexander,
I spoke with Barry Weber the other day and he told me to hunt you down and blast through your new amp! He told me how impressed he was with your amp at the NY show and also how much fun he had hanging out with you. I listened to the video demo and am very impressed to say the least and am really looking forward to meeting you in person and talking shop. I hope we can get you down Sunday for my "Vintage Marshall vs. Boutique clones" seminar and help you clean out some of that pesky earwax!LOL!

...This whole Zagray! thing has just gone too far...

First, Sweden to New Jersey, then New Jersey to Sweden, and soon, Sweden to Nashville... And that's a wait of at least...Two weeks!

    It's simply...Unfair!

Tommy, it'll be a pleasure. I understand earplugs are recommended for the seminar to keep earwax in. Once the earwax escapes your hearing is gone...just like the tone is gone with the blue smoke escaping from your amp...

I'll be arriving to Nashville on Thursday late afternoon so we can meet already in the evening or on Friday if you like. Shoot me a PM.

As demonstrated in the clips Zagray! cleans up nicely with guitar volume and finger control at any gain/drive setting. Also, when GAIN & DRIVE knobs are at Zero or below ca 10 O'clock the amp is clean so it might seem that dual MV controls are an overkill if not a mistake, or? Well, maybe overkill for some but (in my warped mind) not a mistake.

The key to dynamic sound is in playing close to the ceiling and using the headroom fully whether clean or roaring mean while not exceeding the thresholds beyond which the preamp vomits and power stage farts out. (ok, there are uses for those sounds too).

When XOD MV is engaged the distortion and gain structure are tuned in by GAIN & DRIVE controls while XOD MV sets the output volume and overdrive of power amp. This allows you to find the spot where all stages hit the ceiling simultaneously if that's what you're after. Or use preamp for dist/gain and power stage for volume.

When CLEAN MV is engaged instead the GAIN/DRIVE controls are deactivated and set to the equivalent of ca 9 o'clock. At the same time the CLEAN MV is given in a broader range so you can overdrive the power amp with clean sound. You can also use a stompbox in front, such as an OD or a booster to push the now clean Zagray! preamp.
Use the CLEAN MV to either adjust clean volume or open it all the way to make the Zagray! react like a non MV amp. This is possible because both MV pots are driven from a low impedance signal source (NOT cathode follower) and have no affect on the signal whatsoever other than adjusting it's amplitude.
Both MVs will give you a usable control range over their full rotation. They'll give roughly same volume in CLEAN and XOD modes straight from the box i.e. with all knobs at 12 o'clock.

With the two MVs Zagray! becomes a MOD (master of disguise)... but it's up to you what mask it'll be wearing :D

I'll explain using fx-loop as solo boost later....
...but if you can't wait please read page 12 in Tubewonder manual - it's all there.

Very elegant & well thought out controls! Sounds like it should be easy to balance the Clean & XOD sides of the amp. Along with using the loop for a boost, I could see a pedal-less gig (actually I never leave home without my tuner) but other than that just grab the footswitch & go!

Thanks as always for the info!
