    With some good pups these guitars can fill a lot of shoes. I turned mine into an Esquire and will be upgrading the p/u soon. Mine weighs about 8 lbs. The neck is quarter sawn and has some flaming. The fit and finish rivals guitars costing much more. They did an excellent job on shielding, this is the quietest S/C guitar that I have played. The pine body gives up a little more bass and mids IMHO. The 3-way switch is an Alpha (as are the pots), I think a lower value on the tone cap would yield a little more useful range of the tone control. I have heard of some phone jacks coming loose, but I haven't had any problems with mine. The blond transparent finish looks awesome and the neck is tinted and reminds me of the 52 RI's. I wonder when a MIM Nocaster will appear?

    I'm glad you like it, Mike.

    I'm going to convert one of my partscasters to an Esquire. I've never tried one and am curious.

    We have been going nuts over those things on TDPRI. I have around thirty Teles and I had never played, much less purchased, a Squire before. It is easily as good as a $1000 Tele - no exaggeration. I love that thing!

    By all rights these should freeze the sale of any other squier within $ 100 of this 3 hundred dollar price. My beefs:

    Neck is too shallow (for me);

    Made in a country I don't patronize;

    None in the local stores to compare with others.

    I think these will cannibalize MIM Std sales, possibly even MIM Classic Tele sales. My guess is this piece will go to $ 349-379, whilst other models will have to be liquidated.
