Thinking about a DGT, but don't want the pickups

So I really love the DGT, but play heavier music. I tried a DGT with 59/09s and they were great. However, after spending all the cash on the guitar, I would have to sell the DGT pickups to get my new set. How much would these be worth for the set on the open market?

I think a couple hundred? Maybe $250-$300?

Maybe more. Those are not available directly from PRS.

You can sell those pickups in a heartbeat for $300 to $350.

In fact, if you go ahead and grab a DGT, PM me about those pickups.

I will, of course, expect a discount since I posted on your thread (I have been on TGP for a very long time and this strategy has never worked but I figure I should keep trying:))

Will the 59/09 fit heavier music better than the DGTs?

Depends but generally, yes. They're a tad hotter than DGT's and a hair brighter but that's oversimplifying it. My DGT did pretty well with high gain amps.

Love the 59/09's but you may even consider PRS Tremonti or PRS \M/ pickups which is their take on a "metal" pickup.

Or you can choose other branded pickups that are not PRS.

I have several PRS guitars, and only one is stock. The rest have had pickup swaps to be better suited for heavier music (for me, I really like BG pickups).

DO IT! Post pics, tell us about it. You'll have no problems selling the DGT pups to get you something else more fitting..

If I go this route, you'll be first to know. If I sell here on TGP, I always give a discount. You guys are the best!

Why not a CU22 with a trem then? Hotter pickups usually...

I'm in the same boat. I bought a DGT recently, and am probably going to swap out the pickups for hotter Wolfetones. But give the DGT pickups a minute before you swap em - I raised the bridge pickup a bit and it can do heavy surprisingly well:

I have a DGT and I could easily utilize it for any gain style. There are so many options today with clean boost pedals, etc that can give any pickup a boost if needed. Why not try something else before replacing pickups. The type of amp comes I to play too.

very hard to find a better PAF type pickup than the DGT, even for heavier type music. They cost a pretty penny too.
