Thinking about Logic 8... question

    This may be a dumb question...

    If I see a cheap price on a version of Logic Pro 7... would it make sense to buy it, and then get an upgrade to Logic Studio 8 (together, well less than the price of Logic Studio 8 new)?

    Is there something that would prevent that from working? (or non-ugradeability down the line)?

    You must have the Logic 7 dongle for the upgrade to 8 to work. Once 8 is loaded you don't need the dongle for Logic to run. However, save that dongle, because whenever 9 comes out, you'll need the dongle to upgrade again. At least, that's my understanding. I was instructed to not lose the dongle.

    Logic 8 is so cheap as it is, I wouldn't bother getting a version of 7 and upgrading.
