anyone have any experience?
I think TubeGetter has had experience with them.
hey, thanks for the tip!
I've got some coming in soon (maybe they're actually here already). I'll report when I've had a chance to test some.
please do, im about to drop the bomb. where did you get them? how much did they go for?
I have a Telam in one of my amps. It's the best EL84 I've ever come across. Better than a Mullard, Amperex, Amperex 7189, Tung-Sol, Brimar and some others which I've tried in the same amp.
I just bought a lot of 10 off ebay. They're for a low wattage plexi style head I'm waiting for. They are supposed to be incredible.
You have had better luck than me. I have never seen any on ebay and I search for them on a regular basis. I am anxiously waiting on two quads from Tube Tramp. I'm hoping they live up to the hype.
I hope they are as good as Kilgore says they are. He really knows tubes so I'm anticipating they will be. I got mine off a guy in France for a killer price. As more people find out about them, I'm sure the price will climb.
I'm a tube dealer (see link below). They have arrived but I have to finish up a few amps for customers before digging in.
Not sure what the price will be as I can't remember what I paid for them. Check my site or email me to bug me
are these polam telams NOS or what? i thought i read that they're from the early 70s, but i can't remember now.
These are the ones as pictured in an earlier thread http://www.jogis-roehrenbude.de/Roehren-Geschichtliches/EL84/Telam.htm They're very distinctive with 3 rectangular holes in the plates.
No date codes but my European source says they're from the '70s. They'll be available in the next day or two after testing/matching.
thats not the same tube? the polam telams look like this:
it does have the three rectangular holes, but they say TELAM instead of POLAM. i'm really confused right now. i want to make sure that these tubes are the same tube before i buy either one.
just a follow-up, those two tubes are the same. same factory, same tube, different label.
Right. Just about every tube ever made has been marketed and labeled under different name brands for different markets. This one is no exception.
I was told Polam was the name of the company and Telam was the name of one of their factories. Mine say Polam on them.
yeah, the ones that say "POLm" were still made in the same factory as the ones that say "TELAM". for some reason they changed to "TELAM" after a certain peroid of time, but they made less of them. same tube though, can't wait.
