I mean it was a $500 guitar (new). These pickups are $200+. So, worth it?
I think so.... I put a $350 set of Kinmans in a $700 used 50's Tribute les Paul.. You should hear that guitar
All I can add to this is that the Flat 50 pickups are the best pickups I've ever used. Ever. They are amazing.
Bareknuckle anything is worth putting into anything. I am a huge fan of them and I have them in almost all my guitars, from $500 to $3000. If you like the guitar and don't plan on letting it go (or are OK with the fact that you'll have to either pull them or be willing to take a decent hit on 'em if you sell), do it!
This man speaketh the truth. I've been a hardcore humbucker guy for 20 years. Once I got a tele with a Flat 50's bridge pickup, booom... My two teles with flat 50's has been my main guitars for 3 years now. Best bridge pickup I've ever tried.
Hang on to the originals and you can always reverse the move and put them in something else. If you have the $200, go for it.
