    I have no clue what he's using in that video. But i know he has a pretty crazy setup. This video show his rig in depth. The dude is a very unique player an gets some utterly otherworldly sounds.

    Yep. Mike watt on bass a Stephen Perkins from Jane's Addiction on drums and the live painter is Norton Wisdom. Banyan is an amazing live act. Their albums are all amazing to boot.. Nels always just tears it up when he plays with them. They have an alternate guitarist as we'll (Clint Wagner) and when Watt isn't playing bass, Robb Wasserman fills in.. pretty amazing crew..
    And I forgot to mention, they have a trumpet player too (Willie Waldman) he plays using wah pedals and other effects, he's like Miles Davis incarnate..:)
