Have you ever written a song that you can't play?

Normally I can whip out a demo in a couple of hours. The bass part alone on this cost me that long - had to play it on the Fender VI because I couldn't play it on a real bass - and ditto the rhythm part. For some reason I just can't play this song, and it's driving me nuts.

The solo was supposed to be the easy part, and I couldn't even do anything with that other than wank in Gm pentatonics because all the cool notes/scales I had in mind just weren't working for sh!t. So it's waiting for hawkeyeinexile to come up with something because I sure can't. Sigh...

This ever happen to you guys?

EDIT: New words and a lame solo...

    Thanks strat-rock - i appreciate your kindness!

I also just realized - I got the words wrong! Now I have to rerecord the outro vocals because I just realized what the title of the song should have been. DOH!!!

    Great stuff.

You need Viv Stanshall and Neil Innes to sit in!!

Any Bonzos reference is good with me.

    Great!
You need a Tuba solo....................plus sounds of Tap Dancing.

Man, you are the lyricist of this board - I've heard the ones you worked with jeff on...
    Nice work, David!

    Best, Pete.

Thanks Pete! Actually I wanted someone (um, Joseph...? :) ) to do a Juan Tizol-ish trombone solo for the middle bit, plus maybe to replace the bass riff between couplets where you hear the wah in the background. Gotta say, tap dancing never occurred to me!

Neil - I always wanted to write like Lowell George, maybe Tom Waits, even Keef. But realizing I'm turning into a novelty act in my old age was an eye-opener for me. But hell, I love Viv Stanshall's music too, so I guess I could do worse. Can blue men get the whites?

Semore - it's an all-natural blend of herbs and spices I use to, um, relax myself! Thanks for listening! And thanks too, Rid - I appreciate the kind words!.

Rerecorded vocals with the obviously correct changes to the lyrics.

Well, I try not to generalize, but those wicked dwarves are ALWAYS a PITA, y'know?

I mean, don't get me wrong, some of my best friends and so on... But still... ;)

    Thanks Hemlock!
