I have two old Cry Baby wahs and I would like to know how old are they. One with stack of dimes and other with TDK inductor.
Anyone know is it possible to found out from a serial number?
    both have replaced pots

There's a lot of info on old wahs on A-man's site, at the bottom:
    http://www.analogman.com/kraft.htm

I was only able to date my Italian vox more specifically (than '67-'69) by watching others on eBay and comparing sn#'s.

The serial number would not help. This is why. You did not buy the wah New.The base plate could have been swapped or changed over the years many times..Most of my TO wahs have had the plates mixed up and swapped around. When TO started making the US Calif wahs the circuit remained the same most of it's life.

Without the original pot you can only estimate the year of the wah as far as I know.Even the component codes could be 4-5 years off.Another myth is the tdk vs SOD.Both were found in Chicago and Calif wahs..

I know of only one person that has cataloged hundreds of wahs by serial number and pot codes.Even then he only uses it as a rough estimate. TO made more wahs than you could imagine and I don't have the figures avaliable right now.

Your best bet is to enjoy the wah and not worry about the YOM..By the way the average cost of a new TO wah was $69usd as was the early Italian Vox and crybaby wahs. That works out to about $256- $425usd in todays market..Take care,Keith
