I've wanted a Thorn guitar for about 5 years...just was always broke through college....well, I'm about to have the cash....and Ron's still not taking orders... :-( Anyone know how much longer till the flood gates are released again? I would post on the Thorn forum...but I can't figure out the yuko stuff.

    Colt, you are in.

FWIW, Ron's wtill kicking down the backlog and hasn't released any final plans for when he'll start taking orders again or how. He did post once that when he did, that he may only take orders for 10 or 12 and close the doors again until those were about done. Step and repeat. That way he could keep from having an overwhelming backlog again.

At this point your best bet is to keep a watch on the TNDP because when he does, I expect the slots are gonna go fast and he'd likely make the announcement there first.

    Thorn is still the best.
Although it is close to impossible to order his original Artisan guitars due to backlog of orders. I know that for some axes it took 5-7 years to be completed, but is is worth waiting and actually there is nothing so perfect as axe that Ron has built by his hands (Artisan Masters chielfy).
I believe his current range is on the very top of the quality, as well.

You can get a Deluxe now in about 6 months and an RS in less time, last I checked.

    Wow necro thread. :)

No artisans at current is my under standing.
The new deluxe line is amazing and very much equal in quality to the best of the artisan masters.

The SoCal bolt on neck and more 'F' styled guitars are equally fabulous. Only thing I play as much as my original artisan is my SoCal C/S

    BM, Is that your Deluxe?

If so, specs, tone report etc would be appreciated

No I don't have a Deluxe..I wish! I'd love to though. Haven't had the $ to get one yet. Hopefully at some point (make mine a goldtop...or maybe better yet opaque red top with natural back...Mmmmm)

If you keep your eyes on the used guitar forums, Artisans come up fairly regularly.

Still, the SoCal and Deluxe90 models are also awesome.

Amazing guitars made by an incredibly gifted luthier who has also become a close friend. Nothing but love for Ron and this builds.
