Thoughts/advice on an EVM-12L in a Rivera Pubster? (45w 6L6)

Title has most of my question, local guy is selling a vintage 200w EVM-12L, has traced the codes to 1979. My Rivera came stock with a Celestion Seventy/80. I don't mind it, nor do I love it. I do know the Seventy/80 gets pretty low reviews...

Anyone have any advice or predictions or anything? I've never rolled speakers so I really have no idea what to expect. I just "know" that EVM-12L's are cool because I've read about them, Joe B uses them, etc.

Thanks!

Oh yeah, I think you'll dig an EVM12L in your Pubster. Many Rivera amps feature a Fender-ee voiced clean channel. The EV will make that channel sparkle like never before. The drive channel should also benefit with added depth and dimension. Good luck with this.

Cool, thanks VB! I emailed seller and he was very responsive and knowledgeable. I really wanna bite. I'll have a local tech wiz install it and test it, etc.

Sure. I've used EV12L's in every amp i've owned for 20+ years. Great speaker. I would possibly consider something else if you're talking about a non master amp for cranked distortion tones. But for amps with a master or even a non master amp used for total cleans like a twin or for use with pedals I'd use an EV too. You can beat them. Lets face it, Bonnamassa and SRV are both known for great tone and both use them. In fact a lot of world class players do.

Cool, thanks for the advice ! Yes my Pubster is non-master vol, I'll usually run it at light overdrive, roll back guitar volume for clean, and kick on an overdrive pedal for more drive. Classic rock tone, middle of the road type.
