Building a strat with a solid walnut body, solid rosewood neck. Looking at the lipstick tubes for the neck and middle, and a little '59 for the bridge.

    Any thoughts?

I don't like the Little '59 at all. It sounds compressed to me and, to me, doesn't work well in the average live band mix. Unless you really feel you have to have a single coil sized HB, I'd recommend going with a full sized HB. You'll get more options and a better sound.

SD lipsticks are a bit too polite sounding for me. They don't sound bad, they're nice and jangly, but I like something a little more "rough around the edges" sounding. I'd also worry about them being a bit thin sounding on a walnut body.

I've had the lil 59 and I couldn't make it clean up much. I had one of the Danelectro Lipstick pups from an early reissue and loved it in the neck position of a mahogany body guitar with a 25.5 scale. It was a very sweet sounding clean with somecharacter when overdriven. But that was a long time ago
