First off is the new Al Di Meola Prism model. It has the same 5708 pickups as the new MEII and a beautiful, IMO, rainbow burst finish.

Next is my personal favroite the new MEII. This one has a gloss nitro finish instead of the matte finish on the old ME. It also has the 5708 pickups and filled in bird outlines, which I also love. This guitar has now been moved onto the short list of guitars I want, along with a McCarty II.

Last but, yeah she's just last. This is the ugly sister of the PRS family. The pickguard absolutely ruins the look of the guitar, IMO. The Bigsby's got me excited, but it can't make up for that pickguard. Meet the cheap Reno hooker of PRS' line, Starla.

Note on the Starla. I've always been a sound first looks second guy, but I have a limit. This may turn out to be a fantastic guitar like the Mira, but that pickguard just holds it back. A Mira-sized one would've been perfect. The current one just steps all over the guitar, IMO.

I like Starla. She's fugly. I have a soft spot for fugly guitars. They try harder.

    Like the Mira

The Starla may look better in some color combos than others.

The Bigsby looks like fun though.

The Di Meola Rainbow finish is very nice.

I thought the first one was the Boy George signature model

But really. I'd have second thoughts before stepping out on stage with that thing. It has a pretty heavy implication about it if you know what I mean. Nonetheless it is a beautiful piece.

There's a Mira at the local L&McQ that has a finish/pickguard in those colours (or colours very like those) and it's fugly too... That being said, the Mira looks pretty cool in some of it's brighter finishes - like an old Gretsch Princess or something - but that Starla reminds me of The Beast, or one of those Ovation Preacher PoS's from the '70s... yuck...

Saw a Starla today and while it's not beautiful, I will say that it's much better looking in person than the pic indicates. Sounded pretty good, too, at least from the rather limited demo I heard.

The Prism actually would go over pretty well
out here in San Francisco. People aren't too
    shy about how they identify.

I like the Starla's pickguard, it's pretty cool if
you ask me. I bet Paul found a way to make
sure the Bigsby doesn't suck all the tone out of
it. If anybody could do it, it's him.

That Modern Eagle II is killer! I want one bad.

It'll be a great guitar, I'm sure. Maybe in a different color with a different pickguard I'll like it more.

I don't mind Starla. And I think Bigsbys actually can enhance tone rather than suck it. But that DiMeola guitar?? Now THAT'S fugly! I'm not a fan of PRS colours other than their more natural finishes; ie amber, natural, McCarty etc. But that rainbow thing takes the cake. YUK!

Starla looks like a certain Gretsch model only without the second cutaway..... that color-scheme is not new either me thinks - retro styling still rules it seems.
when a Bigsby is set up ríght and the break-angle over the strings is neither too sharp nor too shallow it is not a tone sucker- on a bigger hollowbody that is not even a consideration- look at the many Gretsches again. i like 'em and the effect and always have one guitar around with a Bigsby.
i have no idea what Starla would cost me but i'm pretty sure i'd get a lot of guitar for my money....but i only buy used anyway so it'll be a while ;-)

The Starla looks cool, but I think they might have tried too hard to appeal to the "vintage" crowd with that obscure pickguard.

The 3rd one is the only one I wouldn't feel like an idiot playing.
