Track #3, Sticking with You. Is that a Dual Rec tone? Sounds like V30's for sure. Anyways, I've been looking for a pedal to get me close to this sound for a while now. Amp is an RV50 which my main settings are too loose and spongy for this tone (Lo damping, gain around 1 o'clock, running M75's) and I don't want to change that.

Just need some help from a pedal to get me closer to this tone.
Here's what I have tried and/or have on hand:

    - OCDv3, too bassy, not really tight and articulate enough
    - Emma Reeza..., way too bright and fizzy to me
    - MIA Tube Zone, too loose in the bass, to "tweaky"
    - Jetter Purple, liked the OCD better
    - MIA Crunch Box, too JCMish, high gain but not really there for this tone
    - Barber DD, too TSish and smooth
    - Wampler Plexidrive & BOR, not enough gain (obviously)

    So.....what are my options?

    OCDv4
    Blackstar HT Drive or Distortion
    Keeley/MAllums/Wampler modded MT-2
    Wampler Pinnacle
    Wampler Ecstacy Drive
    Modded DS-1 of some sort
    Visual Sound Son of Hyde?

    What am I overlooking?

Toneczar Openhaus maybe. They say its good for that stuff. You might check out the AMT line of pedals. The Direct Drive I had had a nice tone (with the tone knob pulled) for stuff like that but just not enough gain. Maybe look into the mod board version.

Got one, it's too smooth. I need something tight and crunchy and "amp-like".

I wish this came in a pedal:

I'm really thinking about trying out Wamplers' Ecstasy Drive. The AMT stuff is on the list too.

I get that sort of tone with my AMT California Sound. Classic Boogie Rectifier tone in a pedal. It is a great contrast to my Keely Fuzzhead, and NOC3 Firefly. Good luck

I was wondering pretty much the same thing. I just bought a OCD v4 so I will see how that goes. I almost bought a Blackstar Distortion but didn't. Not enough sound clips out there to get a good idea of what it sounds like. The Wampler sound clips sound good though.

Blackstar as in HT series right, not Subdecay Blackstar? I hear the Subdecay is very fizzy also.

What blows me away is that I have the toy of a practice amp, Behringer V-Tone, GM108, with an 8th speaker. It's a copy if the Tech 21 modeling stuff and has the 3, 3-way selectors. On Cali. High Gain it sounds soo freaking good it's crazy, but noone believes me. I wish I could get that sound in a pedal.

No...not the Subdecay...way too fizzy for me as well. Was talking about Blackstar HT series. They sound promising...

    I have a Pinnacle and I don't think it'll be tight enough.

:agreein so far, that I think this some kind of rectifier, I also hear a little phasing going on ...
Its almost impossible (IMHO) to get that sound out of a pedal.
I get somewhat near with a GhettoStomp pushed by a Rangemaster.

I ordered the Hardwire SC-2 distortion. UPS just dropped it off at my workplace. I will try it tonight.

I played around with the Hardwire SC-2 on my Top Hat (EL84) amp...and I don't like it. It sounds kinda crappy...it sounds a little more meaty than the Sans Amp I was using and has a decent crunch but when you switch to the saturated setting, it sounds more gainy (of course) and sounds alittle fizzy and fake. Sounds digital, metallic to me.

I also bought an OCD and find it fizzy and not what I was looking for at all. Hi-gain it's not very good at all. I like it more for low to mid-gain stuff.

I will play both a little more and see if I can coax better sounds from them. If not, I will be sending them back. I think I am used to getting my gain stuff from the amp...I had an Orange RV50 and Mesa. It's been hard to trying to find a pedal I love.

Crap...the never ending pedal search continues...
