Congrat's to one of the best ever.
Agreed. Great player and a great guy! One of ND's gems.
That's great! It's about time.
Him and Charles Haley both deserve to be in the Hall of Fame.
Just stupid that it took this long, but I too am glad to see it.
It's about time and he's a heck of a nice guy too. BTW: He's a little shorter than his listed height, but his attitude makes up for it.
Yeah, he was not that nice when he played here. Still, I'm sure he deserves induction. Congrats.
Its pretty hard to argue against any of the guys who got in this year. Still shocked it took Brown and Haley this long to get in.
Good for him and Haley.
Nice to See Thomas Davis win the Walter Payton award also.
I went to undergrad with Haley. We were fairly decent friends at the time. I didn't play football so I was only so good a friend as a non-player could have been. We played a lot of basketball together. It was fun to watch Charles just destroy players at the I-AA level. He was obviously so much better than anyone he played against. We knew he'd get a shot at the NFL but never dreamed he'd be a hall of famer. Good on you Charles. He was one crazy bastard. He was really certifiable.
Congrats to TB as well.
Agreed about Tim Brown, and very happy that Will Shields finally made it. Not only the best guard to ever play the game, he's one of the most humanitarian players around, one of the good guys.
Brown was consistently good for a very long time...and also did benefit from being the only raiders weapon for almost his entire career. Hall of Famer? No. No one feared Tim Brown.
Marvin Harrison was a vastly superior receiver... better route runner...very Jerry Rice in his elegance at the position. I think this is where Marvins questionable off the field stuff at the end of his career caught up with him but its an absolute screw job to put Tim in over Marvin.
Don't get me going on Kurt Warner either... Every once in a while I feel the selectors feel obligated to put a guard in. Will Shields over Warner? Come on...
12 Probowls, 12. Never missed game, on one of the best OLs ever.
12 Probowls, 12. Never missed game, on one of the best OLs ever. Opinions.
Brown and Bettis
I saw Brown play for Holtz back in the day.
Man among boys, it was painfully obvious to opposing teams.
Congrats to all the inductees!
I don't follow the Raiders or the Hall that closely, I'll admit, but I legitimately assumed he was already in. Surprised that it took so long for this to happen.
You know who I'm surprised isn't in? Ricky Watters. Over 10K rushing yards and over 4K receiving yards. As a 49ers fan, every time someone asks me if I think Frank Gore will get in, I say "If Ricky Watters isn't in, Frank sure as hell won't get in."
Harrison and Warner will get in. I think its justified that neither gets in on the first ballot and there is no one in this class that I think shouldnt be in. I think Warner is a borderline HOFer (which still means he should be in, HOF is HOF, just saying it shouldnt be a big shock that he didnt get in on the first shot) and Id like to see him go in with Pace and I think the voters did that on purpose since Pace and Warner are both pretty surefire candidates who will probably go in next year. Shields is an easy pick for HOF, I cant argue with him getting in over Warner either.
